Product Description: People are becoming more and more concerned about the adverse health effects caused by the harmful chemicals found in typical coatings. Prolonged exposure to these toxic chemicals can cause nausea, allergic reactions and environmental illness. AFM products are different. We have spent the past 15 years working to create products which are safer for human health and which eliminate toxicity to the greatest extent possible, while still providing superior performance. While some products cannot be made completely safe, it is our goal to provide the least toxic formulations available anywhere, allowing you to obtain the quality you need while reducing as much as possible the risk to your health and the environment.
Safecoat Acrylacq is a clear, high gloss, water-based replacement for high solvent content lacquer. It is hard and durable with superior resistance to stains, marring and fingerprint marks. Acrylacq contains no formaldehyde, ammonia, crystalline silica, or ethylene glycol.
Use On: Wood cabinetry and doors, paneling, furniture, wood railings, metal furniture, metal railings, vinyl and other plastic surfaces.
Non-photochemically reactive. Doctor recommended; not toxic; premium quality. Minimal outgassing, low VOC content and no unnecessary chemicals. Very low odor upon application and odor free once cured.

Warnings: Health Precautions: As with all coatings and stains, keep container tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not take internally. Always use adequate ventilation. If you are chemically sensitive, always test for personal tolerance.
Additional Info: Limitations: Unlike most conventional paints. Safecoat is made without formaldehyde preservatives. Do not contaminate. Keep from freezing. Interior use only. Do not use when indoor or surface temperature is below 55 degrees F.
Limited Warranty: Safecoat products are guaranteed not to be defective when applied and used in accordance with instructions. However, liability, whether express or implied, is limited to replacement of product or refund of purchase price and cannot include liability for labor costs or consequential damages. Because of the varying circumstance affecting each job, including environmental factors, possible surfaces and application techniques, and the lack of control we have over such matters, it is the user's responsibility to determine the suitability and safety of the product for any particular application. We particularly recommend that users always test in small inconspicuous areas before application to the entire surface.
Not tested on animals.

Packaging: Aluminum Can
Ingredients: VOC: 300 Grams per liter.
Does Not Contain: Animal Ingredients, Formaldehyde, Ammonia, Crystalline Silica or Ethylene Glycol.
Suggested Use: Surface Preparation: All surfaces must be clean, dry, free from dirt, dust, grease, wax, oil, silicone, tsp/soap, mill scale, oxidation, or any foreign matter/contaminants. Remove all mildew before coating any surface. Old coating should be completely removed before applying Acrylacq (cratering may develop if old finish remains).
Wood: Wood staining should be completed before applying finish coats. Sand wood with the grain only. When surfaces have been sanded, dust and vacuum thoroughly to remove debris and then use a damp rag to remove dust before applying finish coats. (Note: Tac rags may leave a residue that can interfere with flow and adhesion causing surface defects.) Wood surface may be dampened to raise grain, sanded, and then wiped free of dust before applying stain or finish. Moisture content of wood should be below 12% for best results.
Metal: Acrylacq can be successfully applied over galvanized and some other metals. A test patch should always be conducted to determine suitability before applying to large areas. Remove all rust and scale before applying Acrylacq.
Application: Always use adequate ventilation. Apply test patches before undertaking large areas to assure good adhesion between Acrylacq and the surface to be coated. Stir thoroughly but gently before use. Do not shake container. Shaking causes bubbles. Pour Acrylacq into another container before applying coating to avoid contaminating main container. For best results, work in a dust free environment. Use a quality nylon brush, pad applicator, or a spray applicator. Do not use a roller. Items may also successfully be dipped in Acrylacq. Apply liberal coats, keeping a good wet edge and avoid over brushing. Avoid working back into areas that have started to dry. In most cases, 2-3 coats are required, depending on the surface. Apply thin even coats when spraying rather than heavy coats which will tend to sag (correct sags or runs within 2 minutes with a lint-free rag, sponge, or brush dampened with water). If spray pattern begins to dryspray, reduce air pressure and increase material flow to surface. Choose unheated spray applicators over those that heat material. When spraying, use a 0.15 tip or smaller. Only stainless steel or plastic spray applicators should be used. Sand between coats with aluminum oxide or silicon carbide sandpaper. Use a damp rag after sanding to remove dust particles. Avoid applying coatings when air or surface temperature is below 55 degrees F or when heavy fog or rain is imminent. Acrylacq can be buffed or rubbed out after 1-2 days of cure (although for best results allow to cure up to 7 days). Take care to avoid generating excessive heat when buffing.
Coverage: One gallon of Acrylacq covers approximately 300-400 square feet in one coat depending on method of application and surface porosity.
Thinning: No reduction is required, but product may if necessary be thinned with no more than 5% water by volume. Overthinning may cause loss of gloss and may impair product performance.
Clean-Up: Clean tools and equipment while they are still wet with a solution of SafeChoice Super Clean and warm water.
Drying/Curing Time: Under normal conditions, Safecoat Acrylacq dries to touch in 1 hour, is sandable after two hours and is re-coatable after four hours. The product will continue to cure and become harder over time; avoid moderate use for at least 24 (and preferably 48) hours after application, and avoid heavy use for as long as possible up to 7 days. Normal conditions include a clean, dry surface, access to fresh air flow, a dust free environment, moderate humidity, and temperatures above 55 degrees F. Thick application, high humidity or conditions other than normal will cause Safecoat Acrylacq to dry and cure more slowly.
Maintenance: Clean with an odorless, dry-free, all-purpose cleaner like SafeChoice Super Clean.
