FloraMend Prime Probiotic
FloraMend Prime Probiotic contains the three characteristics needed in order to be an optimally-effective probiotic supplement: (1) it's viable at room temperature; (2) it withstands stomach acid, so it's not degraded before it reaches the intestines; and (3) it's formulated to be distributed throughout the intestinal tract where it can adhere and reproduce. When taken daily, FloraMend helps promote a healthy gut microbiota that supports a wide variety of health benefits—from GI support and weight management to immune function. FloraMend is also dairy-free and is available in a convenient, once daily supplement. Mounting evidence supports the influence of the gut microbiome on all aspects of health. The microbiome consists of all of the bacteria and other organisms that inhabit the gut, plus all of the genetic material and metabolites associated with these bacteria. Research indicates that the majority of flora in the gut is also related to body weight. Animal and human studies demonstrate that lean individuals have different types and more diverse flora than obese individuals. Alterations to the composition and metabolic capacity of the microbiome in obesity promote adiposity and influence metabolic processes in peripheral organs, such as the control of satiety in the brain, permeability of intestinal epithelium with resulting inflammation, and the synthesis, storage, or metabolism of lipids in the adipose tissue, liver, and muscle. FloraMend Prime includes the following probiotics: Lactobacillus gasseri This member of the Lactobacillus family is one of two species that human and animal data indicate have a supportive role in weight management. A human study on Lactobacillus gasseri found an average 4.6 percent reduction in visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue with accompanying positive effects on body weight, waist circumference, and body mass index. Other common Lactobacillus organisms, such as L. acidophilus and L. fermentum, might actually improve energy utilization, but may increase the risk of weight gain. Bifidobacterium (longum and bifidum) Bifidobacterium species are dominant in the mucus membrane that lines the large intestine. B. bifidum supports healthy gut immunity and helps maintain a beneficial balance of flora in the colon. It also supports the maintenance of a normal pH. Research has also found that B. bifidum and B. longum enhance the absorption of calcium, magnesium, and phosphorous. B. longum further supports immune function in the GI tract and bowel regularity. Healthy levels of Bifidobacterium might also provide protection against weight gain, particularly in childhood. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.
